The Birth Story Finally!

So, I wanted to post this last night, but I ran out of time. Sorry about all the pictures. I should have taken the time to learn how to do a slide show, but I didn't.
So for the story. I had been having a lot of regular contractions several different days, they didn't hurt, but were regular. I went in to be checked thinking I was at least a 4, but I hadn't changed from a 3, so I had given up hope. On April 7th I woke up at 5:15 with my first hurting contraction. They were about 6 minutes apart and for sure the real thing. I woke Darin up at 6. We didn't know when to go in because I hadn't contracted very long and every other baby I always stayed at a 7 until the Dr. broke my water. So, I put on makeup, Darin showered and ate. The contractions were getting harder and closer together. I finally said, call your Dad and get him over here (Susy was gone). So we waited a bit for Gary to come and it was the same time the kids were suppose to get up for school. Christopher had come upstairs, so we had to wait and talk to all the kids for a minute. The pains were still about 3 minutes apart, except it started to hurt when I walked, so I didn't walk. We finally left at 6:55. Darin was driving pretty much the speed limit until we got to the port and he could tell that he needed to hurry. I don't know why- I was pounding on the door of the truck and rolling down the window. I guess at one point I grabbed the unrolled window and wiggled it back and forth. (He was worried about the truck's safety!) He then started going about 90 mph or faster! I didn't complain at all! We got into the hospital about 7:15- he did make good time- They wheeled me back into L&D. I had called ahead to make sure the anesthesologist was there because I wanted my epidural ASAP. They stuck me in a room and I had one contraction and sent Darin out to tell them to get the meds coming! The nurse came in calmly and said we need to do blood work, history and check you. I was like- no, get me the epidural now. We had a little talk about that, she finally decided I was real and didn't do the blood work, she just checked me. She said, oh, sorry you don't have time for a epidural, you're complete!! Then she went out of the room and 4 people followed her back in all going in different directions. I was in shock and telling them to still get the epidural here, I didn't want to have it natural and I couldn't. I had NO choice. She checked me at 7:30. It all went so fast. The Dr. came in, I was ready to push, they noticed my water still hadn't broken, so on my first push, the dr. broke the water and we were going!! LUCKILY he was coming transverse, meaning he was looking to the side instead of down. That totally saved us from having him in the truck. The dr. had to do a little digging to get him to turn his head down. Once his head was born it was easy going after that. He was born at 7:47, 17 min. after they checked me. He was crying and just looked so good. He was 7 lb.s even, our biggest baby- 18 1/2 inches long. He has been really good and the best part is HE IS EATING!! yahoo! I was really worried because Kyle and Heidi didn't eat well, but he is.
I have had to take him in every day for a bili test, it's pretty high, but not high enough yet for the lights. Hopefully tomorrow will be my last time taking him in. He is just so sweet we are so happy to have him here and safe. Darin is very grateful to not have the delivery experience! I guess I can say I'm kinda glad for the experience of natural childbirth- but wouldn't ever choose it. I am very proud of myself though because I did it. Thank heavens it was fast!
Sorry for all the details, but I love detail and don't know how to tell it any other way.

We were pretty surprised at how much hair he had and how long it was.

Darin was pretty proud. He did such a great job staying calm through it all. He mostly laughed at me because I said some pretty funny stuff I guess.

All the kids really love him. Kyle had combed his hair in a mohawk that day. He was pretty proud to be matching Tyler! The boys are really gentle with him. Heidi is not so gentle, but she is just trying to be a good little mother. She will be so helpful :)

Darin always buys them an outfit to come home it and then I have their 3 month pictures taken in it. This is such a cute little summer outfit, it fits him like pants though.

Heidi wasn't quite sure what to think at first.

Oh my gosh Tayna! I think this is my favorite post ever. I love all of the detail and have been dying to hear the story from the momma! I can only imagine how sweet all the boys are to little Tyler, and how funny Heidi is. I still can't believe how crazy and fast everything is. You're amazing. You're silly to think that you put too many pictures on....bring on more and more!!

Ohh, ahhh, poor Tayna. That is what I was saying the whole time reading that. That sounds just horrible and I'm glad it at least got over soon although I'm sure it felt like it lasted forever. Tyler is so cute and I can't wait to see him. Looks like that we will be able to come out this summer and stay 2-3 weeks. I'm excited! I'm glad Tyler is eating, I was worried for you about that.
