Hi Everyone! I need some help. It's garden time again and I'm loving the crook-neck squash, zucchini and new potatoes, BUT, I need some new ways to cook them. Does anyone have a favorite way to cook these 3 particular veggies?? My family would be glad for a different way to eat them.
We are getting ready for school to start tomorrow. The boys say they are not excited, but I know better than that. They will be up early and ready to go in record time! It is always nice to get back into a routine again (earlier bedtime!!). Heidi and Tyler will really miss them. They won't have anyone to tease and torment them. It has been an awesome summer that has gone by way to fast.

I wish I could help besides just frying the slices up. And your wonderful zucchinni bread. I wish we could come take some off your hands:-) Someday we'll havea garden. Yeah for school, with the kids away I am sure things are less chaotic, but then you probably have added stress with projects, homework, etc. So I guess it's a win win!
Hey Tayn. Our ward has a recipe blog. It is
nibley7recipes.blogspot.com.
Tonight I am trying their zuccinni fries. But there are several squash and zuc recipes, more than I expected. I will let you know how it goes. We also enjoy slicing our zuc the long way and grilling them. Good Luck, have fun at school.
The best way to cook crookneck squash is to put it in a box, write my address on it, and mail it to me.
Mmmmmm, delicious! ;)
Usually I either just steam them with butter, or sometimes dip them in egg, then a flour/salt/pepper mixture, and fry.
That being said, my favorite recipe site on the web is allrecipes.com They let other users vote on the recipes, and so if a certain dish has a 5 star rating, and 500 votes, you know it's good. If it has 2 votes, and they are both 1, then you know it's probably one I submitted.
Anyway, good luck. We need to get up there sometime!
I can't add too much more than what's already been written. I also occasionally go to www.kraftfoods.com and can find some good recipes there. Sometimes we make tinfoil dinners or spaghetti and add the squash to that.
So it's your turn to send the boys off to school! That's crazy that the classes can be so big. I hope the boys can still adjust to things, even with lots of kids. This summer sure has flown by!
I loved to boil the new potatoes, and eat them with Butter salt and pepper, then what is leftover make hashbrowns! Also as far ass the reat goes scott likes to dip in butter, and then flower and fry them in butter. Very very fattening. I have heard of people shredding the zuchini and freezing for winter bread!

I can't help you much with the zucchinni or squash, because we do them about the same as you do, but as for the potatoes, we love to boil them and then eat them with scortched butter. If you really are interested call me and I can tell you how to make it, it is really easy but kind of hard to explain on computer. I love it, it kind of tastes like butterscotch to me!
OK.. so my favorite thing, my Mom does with Zuchinni and one of these days I will too.. Fried zuchinni.. mix egg and milk and beat it.. slice zuchinni, dip in egg mixture, then dip and cover in bread crombs and fry on a flat grill (slowly) in some margarine or crisco. When is starts getting brown on the one side and is softening.. turn over.
Anyway.. it is YUMMY!!
Tanya, I had the best zucchinni bread the other day. She put a sliced up bannana or two in it. You couldn't really even taste it but it made it sooooo moist! Try it! Other than that, I've heard of putting diced up zucchinni in spaghetti and lasagna.
