I love this picture!

The update on the family of chickens is..... We are now down to 7. Spike turned out to be a rooster. He was nice for a long time. Then one day he snapped and started ruling the girls (and us) with a iron fist. So last night Darin finally took care of him. We had some sad kids (they really wanted baby chicks) but it will be so nice to not be worried about him and now Heidi can go visit the ladies anytime she wants without my help! So, we're having chicken tonight!
Just for the record I was really missed his crowing this morning. I didn't realize I liked it. I think it brought back good childhood memories.

I can't beleive he did it. Was it pretty tragic for the kids? I am scared of roosters, because of a mean one that attacked me once. To be honest I didn't look at your chickens too much because I am a whimp and was scared of Spike. Hope your chicken is good!! Yum Yum!
No way, you really ate it! I'm impressed.
Oh man I am sure it will be better in the long run. Roosters can be pretty ferocious! I have had many bad experiences with one that was next door to us growing up. But I am impressed you ate it!? I don't know why, That's crazy to me. Did you really? And if you ever want chicks, they're pretty cheap around Easter time! Love that picture too.
Cute picture. I'm so sorry about the rooster. You guys sound like pioneers killing and eating your own chicken! You're tougher than me.
