Look what joined our family!!

Aren't they cute little things!
(My camera date says 2007, not right, it was really infact today.
No April foolsin or anything)
We are in love. At least for a little while. We have these mostly thanks to Grandpa Doug. He got some and we were there over the weekend (at the beginning of the month). The kids had a blast holding them and loving them. I was in Cal-Ranch yesterday and Heidi wanted to bring home a chick to Dad sooooooo bad. She wouldn't take no for an answer from me, so I had her call her Dad. He said SURE! I had to remind him we didn't have the stuff for them. So he did convince Heidi we needed to be more prepared. Well, that's all she has talked about all last night and this morning is her baby chicks. Darin took her after lunch to pick some out. We really have been thinking about it for a really long time, we just didn't have a very good place to keep them. So now I guess since Heidi wants them, we will finally get a chicken coop! He bought wood today and hopefully will have a few days to work on it. Chicks grow fast!

The problem is we can't tell them apart! Hopefully we will be able to soon.

Way to go Harpers! Now the fun begins. Just don't make chicken nuggets out of them! ! This will be good for your little family, even if it was Heidi's idea. If you get sick of them, you can bring them down to Grandpa Doug's since he was the one who started all this! ! Now we can compare chicken notes! ! Love you all.
Yay Tayn!! chickens are lots of fun! We love ours. :)
That is so exciting! I can't wait to see them and eat some of those organic eggs they'll produce. Haha, glad Heidi is so happy! Miss you guys!
Awww....you're so lucky! They are so cute and what a lot of fun for the kids!
Thanks a lot Tayn- now that Mara saw this post, guess what she is begging for!! That will be fun and brown eggs are supposed to be a lot better for you.
That little girl has her daddy wrapped around her finger, doesn't she! Your kids will have fun with them. It will be great!
You guys are ambitious, that's all I can say. Hopefully your chicken coop won't flood like ours did when we were kids. I just remember what a terrible stinky job it was wheel barrowing all the poop and stray out. That's great though. Now when my mom needs an egg you can tell her to go get her own!! LOL
