Our boys went to Camp Bradley for scout camp this summer. Darin went up with them for the first 3 days, and then Pete (who works for us) went up the last of the week. Darin forgot the camera, so we sent it with Pete. They had a GREAT time! Darin even had a great time.
Brandon did a robotics merit badge. He made this robot and they had a competition with them. It was a fun merit badge.
Christopher LOVES fire!
In the dining hall. The boys really liked the food.
The girl is a girl in our ward. Her family was working at the scout camp for the summer. She was VERY excited for our boys to come! Such a great girl!
Brandon and Luke did the fire and ice challenge.
They did an early morning swim....in the cold, and then had to melt the ice in this bucket in the swimming pool.
Brandon also did the MILE SWIM.....which was memorable!
He had to swim each day a certain amount so they knew he could do it. When he finally did the mile swim.....he ended up getting hypothermia. I guess he was pretty loopy and acted like a drunk guy. I hope that is as close to drunk as we EVER see him! Luckily Darin was there, he pulled him out of the water and undressed him and got him warm by the fire, put on thermals and blankets. Then finally put him in the truck (Darin wasn't going to bring the truck to the lake, but we prompted too....good thing) In the truck he cranked up the heat to 90 and had 3 blankets on him and he was still cold! I guess he was talking in a weird voice and was sooooo friendly and funny. There were other boys in the truck, and they were having a BLAST! It was roasting hot, but it was so fun to watch Brandon that they didn't care! All I can say is I'm glad Darin was there, and I'm glad I wasn't! He did complete the mile swim!!! The only scouter that week to do it.
human sun dial
on their way back from eating.
This was a cool place that had been panned for gold. That is why all the rocks are showing up.
Christopher right on on all the fire stuff!
Christo wanted to do the archery merit badge. He got half of it done. He wanted to finish so bad. Their arrows were not very straight, so it made target practice pretty hard. I think he completed 6 other merit badges.
More fire pictures!
At flag ceremony I think.
At the food hall again.
There was peanut butter and jam all the time for the boys to eat. One boy....not mine.....ate a LOT of them. He did also eat all the other food too. You never want your boys hungry.
I think this is from the mile swim.
Fire and ice awards.
I am so grateful for scouting!! I am grateful to the men who took time off to take them camping and to this scout camp. Brandon didn't need to go, but it is always such a great experience. Lots of memories were made. I think it was fun for them to go together as brothers. Scouting teaches boys so many things and give them so many experiences that they wouldn't normally have. I'm so glad the church still supports and encourages the scouting program!

I agree that scouting is a great program! Your boys are awesome. What some great memories and pictures. I'm glad Darin could go. I forgot about the "loopy" Brandon story. Made for a good laugh!
